True heroes of self deception.

Does the world truly deserve another Welcome To Goodbye? Does the world really need another “Exterminate Annihilate Destroy”? This band doesn’t think so, according to the latest installment in the adventures of Rotersand, though they courageously continue in furthering the future pop ethos of crossover at any cost.

The adventure does get off to an energetic start with “Bastards Screaming,” springing forward with a kick-drum-cymbal march that joyously raises a ragged elektro-pop banner, relying less on mindless lyrics and valiantly touting a chewable dance floor ready 909. The chaser seems to owe more to the group’s peers in this genre than to anything remotely original: “Waiting To Be Born” and the tranquil “We Will Kill Them All” suspiciously sounds as if they were lifted from any number of past Covenant albums; the bracketing keyboard bridge on “Speak To Me” is the trance brand usually dispensed by Cesium 137.

The only appearance of the Rotersand that everyone knows and loves doesn’t check in until the relentlessly erratic shuffling “If You Don’t Stop It…” and the deceptive sound colleges that drive the martial melody of “War On Error,” the closest the band can get to the aforementioned compositional glory days of Welcome to Goodbye.

It would be easy to dismiss this as Just Another Rotersand album, and when their history finally becomes just that, Random Is Resistance won’t inspire any enduring memories of the EBM revolution that the public was promised back in 2004. The resolute potential remains, though this album further actualizes the fears of a band moving closer to the over-populated twin cities of Ordinary and Irrelevant.
